G2M Group completes demerger of its operational activities from its property investments
G2M Group, the UK residential rental operator, has completed the demerger of its operational activities from its property investments to form G2M Asset Management, which will be a specialist UK residential investment manager.
G2M Asset Management will operate alongside the existing property and resident services business, and is looking to raise institutional capital to impact the UK rental market through the acquisition and upgrading of over 20,000 family rental homes over the next 10 years.
Whilst G2M Group has previously raised capital from private and institutional investors as a consolidated limited company, G2M Asset Management will now establish new Limited Partnerships bringing in capital from additional institutional partners to invest into the UK family rental market.
According to Paul Morton, G2M Groups Chief Executive Officer, the move represents “a natural progression” for the firm.
“Having established our platform and investment model with our founding institutional investors, we wanted to structure ourselves to enable greater scale to address the vast needs driven opportunities presented by the existing private residential rental market, as well as provide investors with opportunities across the risk-return spectrum.
By enabling investment into the existing UK housing stock we can not only help create a more sustainable and affordable UK rental model, but also directly impact the UK’s 2050 net zero journey.
We are uniquely placed to address this market using our proven capability, which is based on the acquisition, stabilisation and resident service provision of over 2,500 family homes in more than 40 Local Authorities across the UK, and we’re excited about what can be achieved.”
About G2M
After being founded in 2012 as a private property investment vehicle, G2M became institutional in 2020 through investment from UK based REVCAP and US pension giant Teachers Retirement System of Texas (TRS) scaling its operation and developing its technology platform.
The Group is focused on creating a more sustainable and affordable UK rental market through the aggregation of family homes; transitioning ownership from private individuals to institutional investors who can invest and hold for the long term.
